Cedarific Clocks

Sometimes you just have to let them talk...

"Hi, my name is Bob and I was calling because I heard a program by a Dr. Fishbone on your station, and it was about helping patients in the hospital. Now this was about two years ago.

"Two years ago?"

"Yes, sometime around in there. I do volunteer work at a hospital. Or I did. I used to dress up as a clown and visit the infirmed."

"Okay, I am looking on the NPR website, and I am not finding anything using that name. Are you sure that was the doctor's name?"

"It was about hospitals."

"Well, unfortunately the word hospital is going to bring up lots and lots of stories."

"Well, I also make clocks."

"Okay."

"I make clocks out of aromatic cedar. Have you ever smelled a clock made out of aromatic cedar?"

"I don't think so."

"Well, it is what I do in my spare time. My house is filled with clocks. Some of them are cuckoo clocks. They all cuckoo at the same time and they smell wonderful."

...I never found the Dr. Fishbone story. I gave him NPR's main number and sent him there. Somewhere in Washington, D.C. another NPR employee now knows about aromatic ceder too.
